Privacy Policy

Upahar Samaj helps people in Nepal give away things they no longer need. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who can see it.

What we collect

• From Google, when you sign in: your name and email address. We never see your Google password.
• What you add: listings, photos, your pickup area, your profile details, messages, saved items and reports.
• Your phone number: the number you add to a listing.
• Safety records: who revealed a phone number and when, and how often actions are performed, so we can stop abuse.

How we use Google information

We use your Google name and email address only to create your account, sign you in and identify your account. We don't sell this information, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.

Who can see your information

• Everyone: your listings and photos, your first name and last initial, your profile details and your general area.
• People you message: what you write to them.
• Your phone number: only signed-in people who choose to reveal it, and only if you allowed that for the listing. It's never shown on the listing itself.
• Moderators: listings waiting for review, and reports.

We don't show your exact location. Listing locations are offset from your neighbourhood. Your email address and full name aren't shown to other people.

Service providers

We use these companies to run Upahar Samaj. They handle information on our behalf:

• Google: sign-in.
• Supabase: our database and photo storage, hosted in Mumbai, India.
• Vercel: website hosting.
• Unsplash: some sample images on our pages load from its servers.

Cookies and browser storage

We store your sign-in session and chosen location in your browser so the site works. We don't use advertising cookies or trackers.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit or delete your listings at any time. To delete your whole account and its information, contact us at the support address shown on the Google sign-in screen, and we'll remove it. Records may be kept where needed for safety or by law.

Children

Upahar Samaj isn't meant for people under 16.
